The set still packaged up (um, don't mind my messy, er, busy, work desk--but see appropriate computer wallpaper in background!):
And here a close up pic of just the car, sitting on the base of my stainless steel desk lamp, with a window and my always-up Christmas lights in the background--just like in "A Very Supernatural Christmas"--awwww! *sob*
So...my Metallicar Adventure actually started last night (unless you count me pouncing on the Best Buy ad in Sunday's newspaper, after looking for it first thing after I'd seen online--Thank you, TWOP!--Greenlight had made the Impala to be included with the season 3 DVDs). The set went on sale this morning, and I know that with collectibles like that, even for non-fans of the show, who get them just because they can re-sell them or whatever later, they'll go fast. I went into the Best Buy near where I work (there's another near my house, but it's not as big), and had a nice chat with Best Buy dvd dept guy #1--I explained that I wanted the season 3 DVDs with the car, and did they have them in stock, etc. He very kindly looked it up in the computer--and they did indeed have them (16 at that store) and 9 at the store near my house. He agreed they'd go fast, and to get there early, just in case. He even checked into my ordering them online for store pick up, but no way to get the car with that option. I decided to get there early instead (Must. Have. Baby. Metallicar.), thanked him and left the store. Only to get to my car, realize I'd forgotten to ask where they'd be located in the store, (I'm a little, um, detailed *looks ashamed, but only slightly*) and after only hesitating briefly, headed back inside, not caring if BBG#1 thought I was a lunatic. BBG#1 possibly saw me coming, and was nowhere to be found, but I did find BBG#2, to whom I also explained My Quest--he was also very helpful and kind (wow, they train those BBGs in customer service really well! Rule #1: Always Humor the Customer's Fannish Tendencies!)--and actually walked me around to the 2 locations in the store the DVDs would be placed (the New Release stand right inside the door, and over the new release racks). I asked if he thought I should arrive early and what time, and if it would be a very popular DVD set--he said that if I was there by the time they opened (9am), it would be fine--the store tended to be empty until 10am or so--and then, he lost me:
BBG#2: "...it's just a car..."
Me: O_o "It's...The Car. As in, 3rd character on the show, as popular as the lead actors!" *philistine!*
So...anyway...I got early this morning, was in the BB parking lot by 8:30am (ssshh...I am not obsessed! Just...focused--I like to think Dean would be proud of my planning and preparation!)--and walked out of the store, season 3 DVDs clutched in my happy hands. And, no, I didn't look in every package in the store to pick out just the right car. *nods*
My work camera is not the greatest, so might try better pics tonight with nicer camera of my own at home.
